Dom Pérignon Limited Edition Lenny Kravitz Vintage 2006 rosé 75 cl
Lenny Kravitz is a long-time friend of Dom Pérignon. Passionate about its vintages and a kindred spirit of former Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy, the singer has always felt a creative affinity with the champagne brand, which reinvents itself each vintage, to create the best champagne. Their collaboration began with a series of Kravitz’s photographs. Now Creative Director, he has been given the freedom to create this limited edition – a sign of Dom Pérignon’s respect. SEE THE VIDEO
DOM PÉRIGNON ROSÉ VINTAGE 2006: A MAGNETIC ÉLAN
The weather in 2006 was generally warm and dry, although there were some contrasts. A heat wave hit during July, but August was unseasonably cool and damp. September brought another stretch of warm summer weather that saved the vintage, drying out the few places where botrytis was developing and leading to aboveaverage fruit ripeness. Harvesting began on September 11 and continued for nearly three weeks.

Dom Pérignon is Vintage only. Each Vintage wine is created from the best grapes grown in one single year. To reinvent itself by interpreting the unique character of the seasons. To dare to declare the Vintage only when the harvest meets its ideal. Such is the commitment of Dom Pérignon. Dom Pierre Pérignon took up his duty as cellarer at the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668. For 47 years he continued to invent: improving the grapes’ quality with new viticulture techniques, blending different crus and grapes varieties to obtain the finest wines, gentle and fractional pressing to obtain white wines from black grapes, all those innovations became the fundamental rules of the “method champenoise”.
The bouquet is mesmerizing, ripe, and complex. The opening notes are a blend of dark spices and cocoa which develop very quickly into fruit aromas. Fruit reigns supreme, with roasted fig and apricot and candied orange. The overall effect exudes smoky accents. The fullness of the wine is immediately striking. Its intensity and succulence set the tone through the sweetness and crisp punch of the flavors. The silky mouthfeel melts into a smooth, tight, and grainy structure with just a hint of vegetable flavors. The wine expresses an appealing brininess and saline character.
Rosé Vintage 2006 demands a simple cuisine, modest, pure, authentic, a traditional cuisine from southern europe, originating from italy, spain or france. One can play on mellow and rich textures which the wine integrates perfectly.
